What does the lock symbol next to some twitter names mean?

I think it means that, that person protects their tweets so they have to accept if someone wants to follow them :)

They are protected unless you request to be let in click on 1 of them & you'll see.The lock.

It means that their tweets are private, and to see them you have to send a request to follow that person. :)

what if you follow someone but they don't follow you and next to their name is the little padlock but it says you follow them?
