Why do passports expire anyway? Does the government like to make work for itself?
the only answer I have is the picture. But moving to a 10-year expiry will help. It's annoying!

passports expire so you can pay for a new one. most civilized countries have 10 year passport expiries.

Are they proposing to move to a 10-year expiry? That sounds much more reasonable to me.
Actually, it's funny because I got a passport photo in 1997 and then dyed my hair the next day. The trouble I had in Europe...
No. The Govt likes your money! that's why passports expired. I bought six last year, self, wife, four kids!
I'd be happy if they just moved to a 10yr passport like the US.
