Apps Store Apple ID is borked. Any ideas how to fix an ID created using a now defunct mac.com email address that now requires verification?

That just allows you to change passwords. Doesn't solve the verification issue. All my app purchases are tracked to that account :(

how about going to appleid.apple.com log in using defunct email, then change your appleID email by clicking top option on left?
