How do books get priced? Why are Indian bestsellers priced around 100 while other Indian names, incl the non-famous ones, more expensive?

I think in India the low price is a big reason why certain books become bestsellers.

Its a conscious marketing strategy. At 100 many more people can buy it. Trend started by Chetan Bhagat.

I suspected that but then shdnt it encourage less famous names to retail at lower prices too?

I've seen tons of books which retail at 100 bucks but not everything works. More like a necessary but not sufficient condition
