Lazyweb! Saving KML files as KMZs can reduce them by 70% in size... any reason why this isn't cool when using them as overlays in GMaps API?

The unzipping from KMZ to KML would need to be done on the client side, and there's no way to do this in Javascript

That's obviously because KMZ uses the same algorithm as .zip files

I'm using KMZ files here: http://www.falkirk.gov.uk/online/maps/?layer=gritroads Seems like Google does the lifting?

Totally! I bet it doesn't even happen here! Enjoying V3 of the GMaps API... the KMZ file reduction feels too good to be true tho.
