depends on how much prep time I have as to which I use. We use CC as our world map and can print pieces. That's very nice.

quite often we have the players draw maps based on what they are experiencing so that they bring their twist to it.

just depends on what you set up. You can layer the maps from continents to rooms (links connecting levels).
