Jan 26 2009 when Obama took responsibily as Pres gas price was $1.82 a gallon? What happened=when most cannot afford this price rise?

Remind us, what was the price of gas a few months before that...

Oil controlled on world market. BIggest price driver now is speculators buying oil futures. Presidents have little effect.

Why is looking at gas prices at tail end of Bush administration, pre-bubble bursting, twisting facts?

Just spare a thought for us brits. Your fuel is cheap compared to ours. £6-00 plus per gallon.

will show you the progression of prices. That one month is not a solid indicator. Prices were that low for 2 months total

in July prior, in Bushes term. Prices were on avg $4.12.

@alanhinton11 Oil prices are determined by market,opposing parties always find something to complain about in every presidency.

GW Bush: price at 2005 inauguration: $1.83. Price summer '08 peaked at $4.06. Pretty similar. Not Bush's/Obama's fault.

@alanhinton11 those aren't particularly good indicators either...stock market is floating on a sea of unlimited liquidity.

@alanhinton11 point is, the economy was in terrible shape so gas was cheap. It's in better shape now, so gas is not cheap.

Checked oil chart again=U r using a time in June 08 price up dramatically 2 $4 per gallon?Ave under Bush less than $3?Way less?

My source was Comsumer Report that stated gas was $1.82 when Obama was sworn in? Price spike=oil wells being blown up=June 08?

@KellyDotGov gas fell down to $1.82 at the height of the global financial collapse, which began before Obama was sworn in.
