Does anyone know how I can work out the area of a piece of land, taking a linear measurement off a map & using the gradient? Brainboggling!

have you worked this out yet? Simple trigonometry. Also Google earth + that govt magic mapping thing do sq m working out.

not yet. I use magic to measure but know now it wasn't taking the gradients into account. which is a pain!
