Why, instead of teaching how to write a résumé and hunt jobs, don't universities teach their students to create companies and create jobs?

Because universities sell hope and promise to those who will pay for it. Why would job creators be interested?

Because most companies fails while most employees "succeed" at being employees. Universities don't want the blame for failures.

@littleidea I think they do, UVic, 1996-2000, taught me how to learn and building on that learning. I'm still on the path.

people are risk averse - starting a company has way more risk than students want. If they did, they'd be at a startup not in school.

at least to a certain point yet. I mean that entrepreneurship by itself is required but not enough for social good.

indeed, we're quite lucky. We had European funding to set up an innovation centre. So students can get a starter office etc too!

True. But there there are many books, websites & events on entrepreneurship. If you need heavy guidance, a start up isn't for you.
