my wordpress categories and tags disappeared again. Does anyone know how to fix this without reinstalling?

Try disabling any new plug-ins...or just all of them and see if it fixes it. If so, activate one at a time to find the culprit

nope, same version and no new plug ins. Turns out all we had to do was reboot the database. Thank you for the suggesstions
