It seems a bunch of people are having success with SSD lately with a couple years usage. Does anyone recommend the OWC ones?

The recommendations I normally see are Intel or Samsung, and avoid OCZ drives. Haven't tried the OWC ones myself

OWC is the same as all the other SF-based drives. Just get the cheapest SF, they're all relatively the same.

yeah, I used one of the Mercury 6G SSDs from OWC in my 1st gen unibody macbook pro and it was like a brand new machine.

been using mine for well over a year, not a single problem (fingers crossed) and the speed increase is crazy.

Crucial SSDs seem to have the best reputation - I got one about 6 months ago, touch wood it's doing ok. Use TimeMachine tho.

OWC always se to have the best reviews from the research I’ve done the last few years.

The Vertex3 is my least favorite. I like the Samsung 830

get GEN 3 OCZ Agility or Intel best things out there. There were insane problems with gen 2 of SSD's.

The OWC ones come with a long warranty, so they're a safe-ish bet as long as you have backups.

I use the Kingston HyperX SSD, works like a charm in my 2010 MBP. Boots to desktop in 10 seconds.

Definitely like my OWC SSD. Also bought the bracket to turn the old drive into an extra using the CDROM slot: handy.

Yes. I have deployed 10+ OWC SSD 240GB drives in MBPs and the results are stellar.

I'd get the original one from Apple, or one by Intel if in doubt. SSDs have diffs in reliability & speed beyond the benchmarks
