What is the difference between a code written on top of a very high-level programming framework and an executable model?

programming frameworks are abstractions that can be modified by the programmer. Exe models are complete, and cannot be changed

if you abandon the underlying language features and use only the framework, may not be a lot

a domain-specific framework (like Camel) would compare to DSM, a domain agnostic framework (like RoR) would compare to xUML

but in reality, applications on frameworks make heavy use of the underlying language, making transf to other langs hard

things like this are even closer to executable models: http://t.co/b0tGJyZ - note it's a subset (+), but has 1 target plat (-)
