Every society and government has a different risk profile. The nuclear disaster in Japan is making people rethink those risks. I think that you also have to wake up and decide on what power technology you want to allow to grow as well. In the US we by default have selected natural gas and despite all of the hoopla about renewables we are still fighting projects.
