Well the wind seems to be blowing in the HTML 5 direction thanks to Apple and its iOS devices and most recently Microsoft. I think also Adobe has stopped development of flash for mobile devices. So yes Flash is the new Betamax.

Good question, I think apple likes Apps rather than fully fledged sites. Can anyone think of another reason?
