What problems have you been experiencing in Tumblr? Wordpress is a great choice. Used by most of our clients thanks to its intuitive CMS.

Here is how you do it, log in as admin and locate categories from the panel on your left. On the categories page you should see Add new categories in bold type. Directly beneath type the category name in the name field, then add a slug ( a url friendly version of the category name). Directly underneath slug you should see parent & a selection box listing all your current categories. Select the category you want the new category to be inside & add description. Click add new category button. Done!

Well the wind seems to be blowing in the HTML 5 direction thanks to Apple and its iOS devices and most recently Microsoft. I think also Adobe has stopped development of flash for mobile devices. So yes Flash is the new Betamax.

Believe it or not there are companies out there who still have sites composed of nothing more than images, we are in the process of translating such a site to to HTML for one of our clients so its more search engine friendly.

I swear by wordpress for dummies, as mentioned above the codex is also a great place to start. If you have an iPhone or iPad there is a really cool free wordpress app for posting content easily, i use it religiously for blogging. I wish Joomla had an app half as good. Anyone know if one exists?

There are still some die hard Flash fans out there but as time goes on more and more site designers are turning to HTML 5 and CSS 3. If you want your site to be visible everywhere including iPhones and iPads then don't build your site in flash. They will not be accessible on these devices, there is also the issue with site indexing on search engines with sites created in flash.

I would say have a look at Joomla and wordpress for creating advanced content managed websites, best thing is they are free and there are tones of templates out there to get you online fast. We install Joomla, wordpress and drupal for our clients with their hosting packages. Photosenselondon.com and woobly.co.uk are examples of sites built using Joomla. Thechicagoribshackblog.com was created using Wordpress. Enjoy!!

Not really sure what they can do right now, it seems the first step towards fixing the mess is the SOPA u-turn which seems too little too late at least for now. PR suicide of the highest quality.

Really depends on what you are trying to do, I find Wordpress best suited for blogs and small sites. I prefer it to joomla for blogs mainly because it has better apps for managing on the iPad and iPhone. Joomla is more developer friendly I find and best suited for larger sites. If it had iPad and iPhone apps as good as Wordpress I'd use it even more. I like the ability to tweak the code to do what I need it to do. Check out a short article on blog.hostmoog.com. Enjoy!!

Cloud hosting is the buzz word of the moment. If your current shared hosting solution puts allot of strain on your resources then cloud may be a better solution. Dedicated hosting offers similar benefits but at considerablely more cost. Scalability is one major advantage when it comes to cloud hosting for really busy sites.
